When using our services, including the Questlog App (Android and iOS), the Questlog Builder web app, and our websites, we use different cookies. In this cookie statement, we explain where we use these cookies and for what purpose. This gives you a clear understanding of our practices.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (smartphone, tablet, or computer) when you use our services. These cookies ensure that our services function properly and that we can offer you a better user experience.

Not all cookies are the same. In the context of mobile apps, the technology is different but similar in functionality. Instead of traditional cookies, mobile apps use local storage, Shared Preferences, or tokens. For simplicity, these technologies are often grouped under the term ‘cookies.’ In this cookie statement, we follow the same approach.

2. Different type of cookies

It is worth noting that cookies are often categorised according to their underlying purposes. For example, we typically know functional cookies, analytical cookies, and tracking cookies.

    • Functional cookies are essential for the basic functionalities of our services. They remember whether you are logged in and store your preferences and filter settings.
    • Analytical cookies are used to collect general, anonymized data about how our services are used, without storing directly identifiable personal data. This allows us to analyse and optimise our services and identify and fix any issues.
    • Tracking cookies track your browsing, clicking, or usage behaviour, often across multiple websites and apps. We do not use these cookies and have no plans to implement them.

Currently, Questlog only uses functional cookies.

3. Overview of our cookies

Below is an overview of all cookies we use in our services. These are categorised into cookies for the Questlog App, the Questlog Builder, and our other websites, including the main website (www.appquestlog.com), the business website (business.appquestlog.com), and the careers website (careers.appquestlog.com).

Questlog App
Functional cookies

    • app_idToken: Keeps you logged in by temporarily storing your authentication token.
    • app_refreshToken: Ensures you stay logged in by refreshing your session without requiring you to log in again.
    • recentSearches: Locally remembers your last 20 search queries, allowing you to quickly access previous searches in the search function.
    • locationPermissionAsked: Keeps track of whether you have already received a request to share your location, so we don’t ask you again unnecessarily. Location permission is required to complete GPS Quests.
    • cameraPermissionAsked: Keeps track of whether you have already received a request to use your camera to scan Questlog QR codes. This prevents us from repeatedly asking you for permission.
    • mapFilterOption: Remembers the last filter option you selected on the map, so you don’t have to set it again and again.

Questlog Builder
Functional cookies

    • builder_idToken: Keeps you logged in by temporarily storing your authentication token.
    • builder_refreshToken: Ensures you stay logged in by refreshing your session without requiring you to log in again.
    • lastVisitedProfileId: Remembers the last Builder profile you worked in, allowing you to return to it directly when opening the Questlog Builder.
    • dateSorting: Stores your preferred sorting order for Quests based on date, such as newest to oldest.
    • profileManagerSorting: Stores your preferences for sorting Quests by profile manager.
    • show_live: Remembers whether you want to display live Quests in the Quest overview.
    • show_draft: Remembers whether you want to display draft Quests in the Quest overview.
    • show_retired: Remembers whether you want to display Retired Quests that are no longer active in the Quest overview.
    • seenMapTooltip: Tracks whether you have already seen the tooltip explaining the map, preventing it from being shown again unnecessarily.

We regularly review this cookie statement to ensure it is up to date and complete.

4. Questions and feedback
